Maintaining the upkeep your home is a part of every homeowner’s duties
The best way to accomplish them is doing them strategically using a defined schedule
But which home upkeep tasks should you do monthly, annually, or quarterly? We’ve come up with a list to show you…
Annual Cleanups
Annually, there are home upkeep tasks you need to maintain especially if you’re too busy to do them on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis.
- Summer: Summertime means the outdoors is a great priority. This is the season to maintain your tiled surfaces, improve plumbing for any leaks, eliminate insect problems, repair patios or decks, clean out air vents, and improve your indoor cooling systems to prepare for the inevitable heat waves.
- Spring: Among all the other seasons, spring seems to be the biggest month for home upkeep. This is why the term, “Spring Cleaning” is rampant around the continents and countries that experiences spring. During this season, check your drainage facilities (especially exterior ones), improve your air conditioning system’s performance before summer gets here, clean out gutters (since they will most likely be filled with leaves and other materials), paint over and repair any walls with cracks, inspect and repair roofs, and remove dead tree limbs interfering with phone or electricity lines.
- Winter: Like summer, winter is one of the most tough seasons for home upkeep. This is the season when everything turns really chilly. Make plans to fix small projects when the weather isn’t too cold and ensure heaters are kept clean and free from dust.
- Autumn: Right after you’ve finished all of your summer upkeeping tasks, next comes Autumn which comes before wintertime. To avoid any mishaps before winter, make sure to remove sediments on water heaters, check your heating systems, clean out your chimney, test your sump pump for damages if you have one. Also, if you’re in an area with falling leaves, there will be lots of raking to do!
Quarterly
Every 3 months (quarterly) check in and see how you’re doing on the seasonal lists. Delegate jobs to family members and ensure everyone knows what they are responsible for. Regular detailing and home care will ensure your property is maintained and well presented at all times.
Monthly
Monthly or fortnightly home detailing is a must to keep on top of the interior. Bathrooms, kitchens and common areas should be cleaned at least one a fortnight. Windows and ovens etc could be done monthly.
