Thinking of moving houses this year?

Moving houses might seem like a daunting task to many, but with careful planning, it doesn’t have to be

To help you with your house moving duties, we’ve come up with a list of ways you can start packing and preparing for your move…

Pack before you clean

One of the biggest mistakes that most people who are about to move houses do is cleaning before they pack everything they own in boxes. Another mistake they do is cleaning while they pack, thinking that doing so is actually helping relieve themselves of cleaning tasks for later. In fact, doing both these things will give you more things to do. It’s important to do 1 task at a time when preparing for a move. Otherwise, you’ll end up doing another wave of cleaning if you do. Packing things up in crates and boxes can be a messy affair. So do yourself a favour and clean up after every item (except your cleaning tools) are all boxed up and ready to ship.

Store all boxes in one place

Storing boxes in one place can help with fast and smooth moves. This will also ensure that you won’t forget anything you need to take with you. The best trick to do this is by storing all the boxes in one room which is closest to the house’s entryway, making the job of hauling them out and into moving trucks easier for you and the movers who will be helping you as well.

Start cleaning from the top floors down

For a good measure, track your cleaning by starting from the top rooms down to the rooms on the ground floor or the basement. Each room will present a different challenge, so it’s best that you start with the basics such as your closet, your dresser, your vanity table, your bathroom cabinets, and even the attic (if you have one).

Clean the bathroom last

This is the best advice every person who has had experience with moving out would want to give anyone planning to do the same thing. You and your family are only humans and the occasional trip to the bathroom will be inevitable. So to make sure you don’t do another round of cleaning, clean it last. And hey, you can even take shower while you clean right before the movers get to your property. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone!

Don’t forget the little things

Sure you’ve cleaned out every cabinet and storage you have around the house. But are you sure you’ve cleaned every nook and cranny in your home? If you’ve spent a great deal of time packing and cleaning, it would be nice to have an extra pair of hands to help you detail your bathrooms, kitchens, appliances you’ll be leaving, or whichever part of the house needs extra cleaning. Make the entire job easier by asking the help of a team of highly professional cleaning detailers and specialists to assist you in cleaning before the big move.
